Docmost is a self hosted wiki and documentation platform for teams that want a cleaner Confluence or Notion style workspace without putting internal docs in a hosted app. You organize pages into spaces, edit with teammates in real time, leave comments, attach files, restore page history, and search across the workspace. The editor supports tables, code blocks, embeds, and diagrams through Draw.io, Excalidraw, and Mermaid, which makes it a good fit for product notes, engineering runbooks, customer support playbooks, and internal SOPs.

The Community edition covers the basics well: unlimited spaces, real time collaboration, groups, comments, public sharing, full text search, templates, and imports from Markdown or HTML. Paid self managed editions add the features larger teams usually ask for: SSO, page level permissions, MFA, Confluence migration, AI search, MCP support, attachment indexing, audit logs, SCIM, and page review workflows.

The main caveat is maturity and packaging around enterprise features. The project is active and has more than 21k GitHub stars, but recent release notes still recommend upgrades for security fixes. Some advanced capabilities, including databases and Kanban style bases, sit behind the commercial edition. For small teams replacing a loose wiki or shared docs folder, Docmost feels focused. For regulated companies, budget for the paid edition and a careful rollout.
