Open Reports
Self hosted report designer and rendering API for creating invoices, statements, labels, receipts and other data driven documents from JSON templates
Quick Start
git clone https://github.com/varaprasadreddy9676/open-reports.git && cd open-reports && docker compose up --build Overview
Open Reports is an open source report designer and rendering engine for application teams. You can build invoices, receipts, statements, labels, certificates and paginated business reports in a browser, then generate documents through its REST API or embed the designer directly inside your application.
Templates use readable JSON definitions, which makes them practical to store in Git, inspect during code review and manage through your existing application. Reports can use supplied JSON, CSV, REST endpoints, PostgreSQL or MySQL data. Output formats include PDF, HTML, editable Word documents, Excel, CSV, ZPL labels and ESC/POS receipts. The host application can retain control of templates, customer data, permissions and version history.
Docker Compose provides the simplest installation route. Open Reports can protect its API with keys, run database connections through read only accounts and restrict the remote hosts available to report definitions. The designer should still sit behind your existing SSO, VPN or proxy authentication before you expose it publicly.
This is a young v0.x project with no established user community or stable release history. Word and JRXML imports create editable drafts rather than exact conversions, so layouts, bindings and generated documents require careful review. PDF/A, digital signatures and SSRS imports are not currently supported. It is best suited to developers willing to test every template and printer workflow before production use.
